Here is a list of questions and answers that we prepared to best address any concerns you may have :
Cartierville, Du Parc and Westmount YMCAs
Cartierville, Du Parc and Westmount YMCAs - Government announcement (April 6)
Cartierville, Du Parc and Westmount YMCAs - Government announcement (April 6)
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that all activities in the conditioning room will be suspended starting on April 7 at 8:30 p.m..
However, public health guidelines are authorizing the practice of individual activities in pools as well as racquet sports in gymnasiums. We would thus be ready to welcome you back for these activities as of April 12.
To offer a full program and adapt our reservation system, we will temporarily suspend all our fitness and aquatic activities between April 8 and April 11.
Membership payments are suspended.
What new safety measures has the Y put into place?
First, rest assured that we will continue to follow guidelines from the Institut national de santé publique and that we will adapt our procedures accordingly.
Here are a few measures that we will implement when we reopen:
- There will only be one entrance per centre so we may screen all members, employees and suppliers.
- Everyone who enters the centre will have to clean their hands when they arrive, wear a mask and answer four questions about their health.
- There will be cones or other markers on the ground to indicate how far apart people waiting in line should be.
- There will also be arrows on the floor of the centre to indicate the direction of traffic.
- We will remove most furniture from the entrance halls. We will only leave a few plastic chairs or other surfaces that are easy to disinfect for people with reduced mobility.
- Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at different strategic locations in all of our facilities, as well as disinfectant spray bottles.
- Disinfectant products that are available to participants will be labeled with the name and concentration of the product. We will also clean common areas and equipment more frequently.
Suspension of all our fitness and aquatic activities at the Saint-Roch YMCA
Following the government’s latest announcements, all our fitness and aquatic activities, including open practice activities, will be suspended at the Saint-Roch YMCA starting April 1 at 7:00 p.m.
Membership payments will, of course, be put on hold.
West Island, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Westmount and Downtown YMCAs
Notre-Dame-de-Grâce YMCA
We have good news to share with you!
First, we are very happy that we will be able to hold our day camps (for 5- to 17-year-olds) this summer to support the children and families who need it most. All the registration information will be available on our website in mid-March!
Second, we will start short-term renovation work in the centre. This work will improve the centre’s quality of life.
Last, we will be able to resume our fitness activities at the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Y in September 2021, if public health guidelines allow it, without going through a reactivation campaign! As for the pool, it will only reopen once the social distancing rules have been lifted.
Westmount YMCA
Good news! We are happy to inform you that our fitness activities will resume once public health guidelines allow it, without going through a reactivation campaign.
While the Westmount YMCA doesn’t yet have a long-term partnership with the City as the Cartierville and du Parc YMCAs do, we have nonetheless decided to relaunch our fitness activities at the centre. The centre’s central location means we can offer fitness activities to other communities who, unfortunately, cannot access their local Y.
In Progress: Seeking a Partner
Despite our sports facilities reopening soon, the pandemic has weakened the Westmount YMCA’s situation and the centre has experienced considerable financial hardship. Therefore, we have started the process of looking for a partner to support us in the maintenance of our centres. This partnership would allow us to focus on pursuing our work to meet the pressing needs of the community.
Downtown YMCA
We are pleased to see the government loosening public health restrictions, but a year into the pandemic, downtown Montréal and the YMCA’s revenues have been severely affected and the time has come for us to define the approach we will take this year.
We are sad to announce that we will not be able to resume our sports activities in 2021, even once the government gives us the green light. Telework and the drop in the number of workers commuting into the city makes it impossible for us to relaunch our fitness activities at the Downtown Y. However, we will send you a survey shortly to better understand your new reality regarding how often you go Downtown.
The Y’s Ongoing Social Impact in Downtown Montréal
Thanks to subsidies for our community programs, we are still offering our youth and community programs, both in person and online, to the downtown community.
West-Island YMCA
While we are pleased to see the government loosening public health restrictions, a year into the pandemic, the YMCA’s revenues have been severely affected and the time has come for us to define the approach we will take this year.
We are sad to announce that we will not be able to resume our sports activities at the West Island YMCA in 2021, even once the government gives us the green light.
The Y’s Ongoing Social Impact in the West Island
To support the local community, we are still offering our youth and community programs, both in person and online. We are able to do this thanks to program-specific subsidies.
Swimming lessons and lifesaving courses
Swimming Courses
Only open swim sessions will be available at the pools of the Cartierville, du Parc and Saint-Roch Ys on weekdays. Also, we kindly ask you to be a little more patient before booking a private lesson.
Lifesaving Courses
Aquatic courses and certifications, including lifesaving courses, will remain on hold until further notice. We will promptly notify you if the situation changes. Follow our FB pages!
Camp YMCA Kanawana | Summer 2021
Registration for the YMCA Camp Kanawana will open on March 3 at 8 a.m.!
As we haven’t received the permission yet from Public Health to run the camp this summer, we recommend only paying the deposit for the time being and not the full stay. This will make a potential refund easier in case the pandemic forces us to cancel the programs.
You can already create your profile, but you will only be able to finalize your registration starting March 3 at 8:00 a.m.
Will Day Camps take place in 2021?
Following Public Health’s permission to hold day camps this summer, we are working hard to propose several camp locations to you shortly.
For now, we can only confirm that we will offer camps:
We would also like to mention that your support means a lot to us. Your show of solidarity, which we pass down to our campers, is one of the core values of our community. We truly appreciate it.
Community programs
During the pandemic, we continue to support our communities by offering a variety of programs for youth, families and people in vulnerable situations. Despite the suspension of some of our activities, discover all that your Y can offer you, in person and in virtual.
